FOUNDERS AND STAFF

Staff includes co-founders & psychologists Donna LaMar, PhD & Betsy Laney, MA, LLP, licensed by the State of Michigan. They work at both The Farm’s Counseling Center and The Nature Center located in Shelby. Other staff is available for activities.

Betsy Laney, is a former foster parent and the single parent of two adopted daughters (one with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and well as some RAD) and grandmother to four grandchildren. She brings “hands on” experience as a teacher of twenty years as well as a being a psychologist to her work with children and youth of all ages and families. Her extensive experience working with youth and families from a variety of problems and backgrounds, helps them work through their special issues and gain a better future.

Dr. Donna LaMar, the author of Change the World One Life at a Time: Transcending Abuse and Neglect (previously Transcending Turmoil), is the mother of two biological children and has two grandchildren. Donna has experience working with individuals (adults and children) who have been abused and helping them heal and grow from the trauma. She has also done extensive research on how individuals survive, overcome, and transcend abusive and neglectful families. Donna travels throughout the United States facilitating conferences and seminars for professionals, organizations, schools, and other areas.
