FOUNDERS AND STAFF:

Staff includes co-founders & psychologists Donna LaMar, PhD,  licensed by the State of Michigan. She works at both The Farm’s Counseling Center and The Nature Center.  Other staff is available for activities.

* Dr. Donna LaMar, the author of  Marie Did It, So Can I! Surviving, Healing and Transcending Abuse and Neglect (previously Transcending Turmoil), is the mother of two biological children and has three grandchildren.  Donna has experience working with individuals (adults and children) who have been abused and neglected. Her work helps them heal and grow from trauma. She has done extensive research on how individuals survive, heal and transcend abuse and neglect.  Dr. Donna is a National speaker for conferences, workshops and seminars for traumatized victims, professionals, organizations, schools, and other areas.

BETSY LANEY:

MA LLP,  a co-founder of The farm, passed away August 2011. Betsy was part of  heart of The Farm— loving this program and the people. She taught for over twenty years from preschool through community college. When she retired from teaching, she became a psychologist and worked at The Farms Counseling center.

Betsy loved people and had a magical way of working with children and teens as well as adults. Those who were fortunate to have known her always gained from their experience. She helped move The Farm into its Working Farm in May of this year. She will be remembered for her caring, loving commitment to helping people heal and grow as well as  sharing her wonderful sense of humor.

Betsy has two children and four grandchildren. She was also adopted by Donna’s children and grandchildren. Thank you Betsy for you many years of volunteer giving.
